What You'll Learn

The math buyers use before they ever make an offer

Most owners guess at their value. Buyers don't. This session shows you exactly how they arrive at a number, so you can influence it before you sell.

1

How SDE is really calculated

Seller's Discretionary Earnings is the foundation of every small-business valuation. See what gets added back, what doesn't, and where owners leave money on the table.

2

How multiples are determined

Why one business earns a 2.5x and another earns a 4x. Learn the factors that move your multiple up or down.

3

Why similar businesses sell for different prices

Same industry, same revenue, wildly different outcomes. We'll break down real examples.

4

What drives buyer demand in 2026

Market timing, interest rates, and buyer appetite all affect what you can command. Know where the market stands today.

5

What to do before you exit

The financial, legal, and personal steps that protect your value, whether you sell next year or in five.

Your private 1:1 strategy session

Every attendee gets time with the presenters to talk through their own situation. No pitch, just answers.

Who Should Attend

Built for owners who want to exit on their terms

You plan to sell in the next 1–5 years

You want to understand what buyers will pay today, and what you can change to raise that number before you go to market.

You're curious what your business is worth

You're not ready to sell, but you want a clear-eyed view of your value and how to build a more sellable company.

Not sure if this is you? Come anyway. If you own a privately held business, understanding your value is never wasted time.

FAQ

Common questions

Is the event really free?
Yes. There is no cost to attend, and lunch is included. Registration through Eventbrite simply lets us plan seating and catering.
Who should attend?
Owners of privately held businesses who plan to sell in the next one to five years, or who want a clear understanding of what their business is worth today. Advisors, partners, and spouses are welcome.
What is SDE?
Seller's Discretionary Earnings is the total financial benefit a single owner-operator receives from a business in a year. It's the starting number most buyers use to value a small business, and we'll show you exactly how it's calculated.
Do I need to bring anything?
Nothing is required. If you'd like to make the most of your one-on-one session, bring a rough sense of your annual revenue and profit, and any questions about your timeline.
Can I bring my business partner or spouse?
Absolutely. Exit decisions affect everyone at the table. Please have each guest register so we can plan for lunch.
What happens in the one-on-one strategy session?
From 1:00 to 2:00 PM you'll have private time with the presenters to discuss your business, your goals, and your next steps. It's a conversation, not a sales pitch.
